Hi all,

I have a Suzuki Jimny 2013 Automatic model and after a fair bit of offroad kms i have found the low range gearing to not be low enough for crawling down very steep inclines. My question is, if i was to get say a 20-30% reduction - low range only (stock tires/car otherwise) would it be possible to modify the transmission in a way that allows fourth gear to be engaged in low range? The reason for this is I am concerned the lowered gears may make the car too slow for driving on the beach in low range as the car is restricted to a maximum of third gear in low range in the automatic 2013 model...

Thanks

Matt.

kind of depends how much your willing to spend, and how much you like having a auto, and your warranty...
apio gearsets give 58% in low only, but will set you back over 2k AUD.

cant help you on unlocking 4th sorry.

theirs kits for larger cars that lock up the torque converter much tighter, making them both more efficient/responsive while limiting overun, however from my experience with the manual, theres still a bit of overun with such a small engine.
for the costs involved, routinely replacing your break pads and cycling your peddel pressure to prevent overheating the breaks would be the best bet.

No idea on the Jimny,
but on my Vitara I can get OD in low by disconnecting the 4low warning light wire from the tranny stick end.
I did this because I have a very low gear set in the transfer case with only 30" tyres.
Somebody will know how, but Jimny 2013 being new, it may take a bit longer for a reply.
