Just wondering if many people have broken the factory jimny transfer case brackets. Was reading on the off road armoury website that they are "the most likely thing to break on your Jimny as soon as you starts driving hard". Was wondering if this is true or if they are just trying to sell more crap.

Thanks

Well I can say that I stretched my chain before breaking the transfer mounting brackets. The stock rubber mounts have a lot of stretch in them and I think that protects the brackets somewhat. If you had more rigid mounts I wonder if that might put more stress on the brackets?

I bumped my transfer on a sand dune and snapped the bracket clean in half... They're only cast alloy and weak as shit

Ok I see how that might happen.

I have the MIC offroad compact bash plate on my transfer case. That prevents the transfer case from taking any knocks and has its own mounting brackets that more or less reinforce the original alloy ones. I thought you were saying that the original brackets would break from the torque placed on them from the drive train. If you had any sort of bash plate would that not stop the transfer case from taking any knocks?

Broke mine within a month of new and with minimal use. Now have custom steel brackets with Urethane mounts. No case issues since, except for slipping chain just this year.

Fair enough. You could also consider the sierra case swap at the same time, but you will need to replace your gearbox too. Just some food for thought before you buy those brackets and then maybe have to change them later on.
