| Post subject: | Swift GTI Crank angle sensor, where to buy? |
Hey, just a quick question for anyone who may know. I'm after a replacement GTI crank angle sensor, but can only find a couple on ebay from the states and at quite a high price like this one http://www.ebay.com/itm/Standard-Motor-Products-LX764-Pick-Up-/260881039210?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&vxp=mtr&hash=item3cbdb8bf6a Anyone know anywhere in aus to get one, or know anyone who would sell a second hand one? my local wreckers are pretty small, and I doubt they would sell just the sensor rather than the whole distributor. Thanks in advance for any help you can give me Cheers |

i just clicked the ebay link, they're only $75... don't be so stingy, the cam position sensor for the J20a is $250ish non gen & something like $870 genuine. any 2nd hand part will have a limited lifespan & you'll probably end up paying twice. |

Are you the fella with the after market ECU having issues? If it actually is the sensor you would be one of the first ever ppl with a dodgy one I've ever heard of. This is a variable reluctance sensor which just consists of a wire wrapped magnetic core all hermetically sealed in epoxy/hard plastic. Most robust sensor ever made and very very rare for it to act up. FYI you could just mount a vit or 1.3 sierra one in its place. All do the same thing. Dare say some toyotas/mazdas/nissans use the same sensor also |

Also, I read on redlinegti that the resistance of the sensor should read around 140 - 180ohms but when I test it I get nothing, infinite resistance |

If that were true your engine wouldn't be running at all let alone misfiring. Sure your DMM was on the right settings and you measured from both wires out of teh sensor? |

My engine doesnt run at all! No spark what so ever, coil is good, so is the ignition computer and dumb ignitor. All that is left is the cam angle sensor or the ecu. Wasnt too sure which wires to test so i simply tested all combos and got nothing on any of them :-$ |

Well it should give the resistance reading between the 2 wires. Also check your DMM is working by shorting the two probes together. It should read around 0-2ohms |
