As far as I'm aware no performance mods can be performed while on you P's.

Saying that though how many ppl have been pulled over and had their bonnets popped in a Sierra. Drove my G16b Sierra around for a year or so and never had the bonnet popped.

You dont need a mod plate if its no more then 10% increase in displacement.

mod plate and P2 license power restrictions are 2 different things... you can only replace it with the exact same motor as what is currently in it.

pretty sure that would be classed as a performance mod?

a "worked" motor usually ends up with some sort of cam in it that would lump over a bit so yeah i'd say a coppa would pick it easily & being a P plater they'd keen to get you for something.

hi-jack: i reckon working the 1.3 would be a waste of money, bit like flogging a dead horse... you'd be better off just dropping a 1.6, easy power upgrade without having to overstress a small motor.

You could stick high compression pistons in the motor, supposed to give them a bit more zing according to the yanks.

What's the difference between upgrading the stock 1.3 to a GTI or 1.6EFI in a Sierra (with the obvious mods to suite said increase in power), or actually buying Sierra with a GTI engine already installed a 1.6 or 2.0 vitara which have a shit more power while on P plates? I wouldn't exactly call a GTI powered sierra a high powered car.

I'm an old fart, so when I got my licence it was only 'P's for 12 months and that's it. It may just be an across the board rule to stop young drivers putting a V8 in a V6 commy, but it seems a bit over governed in this case.
