Basically working my way into the world of sierras and first thing I needed was lower low ratio gears (I do a lot of stuff either off tracks or on overgrown tracks and i dont know if anyone has been up or down them for years, pretty much drive by braille some days). So when I bought the reduction gears for my Ute I decided a Calmini transfer case cradle looked like a good idea too... Of course I didnt check if it would fit with a handbrake on the rear of the transfer case - so now I either mod to fit or just use the standard transfer case arms. Any opinions on whether or not on the nescessity of a transfer case cradle?
Transfer case cradles are a good idea, coz by adding reduction gears to your case you have increase the torque applied to your driveline. These torsional forces will apply that twisting to your transfer case and can break mounts, crack your case or worse destroy your new gears. The cradle should pick up extra mounting points on your case to help strengthen the case and reduce the twisting
