I know they are a WIDE motor but... Has it been done? Is it possible? |

i reckon it would be nearly unpossible.... can i ask why? |

Anything is possible if you have the budget and skills. But it would just be the start of the mods. Not a single remaining part of the driveline would withstand that sort of power and torque. EDIT: NA EJ20 is only 100kw. Should be ok if you drive nice. |

Boxer engine would have to be wider than the clearance between chassis rails? Measure it up, I'd be amazed if it would fit but would love to see the potential. |

The tyres would rub on the heads on full lock. |

Won't fit. The engine and gearbox would sit too high to work in the tunnel. You'd have to somehow mate another gearbox to it as well |

I think Gwagen has done the measurements and confirmed it to be impossible to fit into the engine bay for what would be a suitable conversion. Just put a commodore motor in you know you want to |

I'd rather out in a 1L than a commodore motor!!!! Time to get a g16b. My mate has an auto lwb bit for sale at the right price, will the auto fit in a swb sierra?? |

use the drive train from the subaru & make it AWD |

An EA81 or EA81T motor should fit been much narrower pushrod etc. I fell in love with the older pushrod subey engines due to their indestructibility and power when supercharged. A speedway one blew away Fontana and top racers years ago on methanol and a hillclimber did the same to much more sophisticated bike engined setups on a few QLD hillclimb events. http://www.debower.net/gimages/pa20.JPG It fits well in a Suzuki Hatch FWD and RWD toyota W series box adapter are available for RWD only or for Toyota running gear 4wd. |

Dont conform and put a g16 in. Do the boxer and make it the meanest sounding sierra on the planet |

flat 4's sound like a soggy harley. quad rotor is where it's at, sounds like a F1 engine & shoots flaming bees & hornets out the exhaust . |

considering it's running an aftermarket ecu, i doubt they'd tack on a bee-r limiter, but yeah it would be an ignition cut rev limiter. the big fire balls is just unburnt fuel getting ignited in the exhaust from when he lifts off. |

why not go all out and chuck a 6 rotor in it in that case. good luck with engine longevity |

| Post subject: | Re: Subaru engine in a sierra? |
a rotor if looked after like anything mechanical will last, 2 mates have rotors that were built in the early 90's & neither of them have had any of these so called "longevity" issues, one is a 12a extend port & turbo & the other is a 13b bridge port. |

my point was. a rotary in a 4wd is kinda pointless. just like a diesel in a sierra |

why's that, cause they have no torque? |

the link is broken to the dyno sheet i posted but this was in the youtube thread gregdixon wrote: gregdixon wrote: atari4x4 wrote: gregdixon wrote: Polar_Bear wrote: Rotaries have torquei call BS, on that one... they have a very flat torque curve. 700+ lb of torque from essentially a 1.3l http://www.madazmotorsport.bravehost.co ... 2-2008.jpg A 13b is the equivalent to a 2.6l piston engine due to the greater displacement per revolution. If I read this right http://www.drivingsports.com/site/2008/ ... uivalency/ If I use the HP calculation of torque x rpm / 5252, working back from that Dyno sheet that car is producing max HP at around 1800 rpm. If that is correct that its heaps of torque and I will eat my own words. |

atari4x4 wrote: why's that, cause they have no torque? ha i researched the shit out of this a while ago, might have even posted some links in the rotor in a sierra thread... they have more pull across a larger rev range and I think even starting lower? maybe? than a g16. |

The dont they idle at 2g? I think you will find that any rotary making good power AND torque from down low will be lumpier than a stroker and there for pointless in a 4wd. Bye |
