Post subject:  99-05 Grand Vitara GV dual batteries.
I've read what I can find on duel batteries for the GV but have a slightly different idea.
To try and keep weight off the front (yer I know I've already got some extra weight there with the bar etc) my thoughts are to see about putting a battery in the underfloor storage area in the back. The idea being if I need some extra spring capacity due to the weight, the rear springs are easy to change or perhaps even fit up some polyair style airbags as compared to messing with the front anymore.
I'm intending on building a rear storage box/thingo so the underfloor compartment will be next to useless for everyday stuff and I recon putting a aux battery there would be a good use for a dead space.
I need to research batteries that'll fit etc but just wondered if anyone has considered or actually done it and what probs they encounted along the way.
If read somewhere (can't remember where now) about a new GV owner doing a similar thing which is what got me thinking it might be possible.
Any thoughts/advice would be great.

Fitting dual batteries in the back is possible but the ammount of work and the battery size really isnt worth the hassle.

The hardest part of fitting a decent size in a GV is making the room. Check my build for what i did to mine and Bohuler's GV

they do this in the NGV as there is no room to fit one under the bonet and you cant relocate anything to make room.

If you want to locate a battery in the back, the easiers place to put one would be the footwell behind one of the seats. Easy to make a box up and a AGM battery of 110 A/H would fit easy. I know what you mean about the extra weight. I am running a 110 A/H AGM deep cycle and the bastard weighs about 30kg. And then there is the Optimia starting battery and your looking at about 45kg in batterys (and about $600 plus wiring)
I will get a pick now on my phone of my setup that is based around B4T's.

The overflow bottle had to be relocated to the left and the windscreen washer bottle had to be relocated into the guard with an XL7 washer bottle. Both fairly straight forward mods. The starting battery is the Optima Red Top on its side for clearance and the Deep Cycle is sitting in the stock battery position. It JUST fits only needed to massage the bonnet a tiny bit to stop it rubbing on the earth.

The 3B&S cable coming off the deep cycle runs to the back so I have battery voltage in the boot :D Works a treat but now I have put royce's loom upgrade in, just need B4T to shorted the cable running to the 80amp fuse and it will clean it up a bit.

p.s that dodgy as bitta blue tape holding wires to the strut brace is my spotlight twist and tape switch :lol:
