Hay guy in thinking bout making some sway bar disconnectors for my jimny Has anyone don't it??? Or is it easier and simpler to buy them??? |

Problem with disconnects on a Jimny is the the bar will hang and be in the way. I have a small bracket attached to the front chassis crossmember (4 bolts), I then unbolt it from the chassis and hang it from the bracket with a Velcro strap. There are some kit options from Asia somewhere that replace the whole thing and have a pin that breaks the bar in the middle.

Replace pin with springloaded pin and cable going to cab and u can have sway bar disconnect on the fly |

I think when this came up several months back the consensus was that you would end up destroying the stock bar if you cut it to put the collar on like the pic nutter posted. I suspect either his method, or something at the ends of the bar is the way to go. Im interested in noise levels of the collar arrangement shown above, there would be a LOT of loading on that pin and im wondering if youd hear it knocking as it wears the collar holes away. either way, the thought died out soon after i believe. We got that APIO email address now from that other thread, just buy one of theirs and tell us your experience lol |

Just a thought, not tried or tested. But ultra soft swaybar bushes, at the suspension bolt on point, may help enough with articulation, with only a small amount swaybar function loss? Or slightly underthick bushes, giving a bit of free play. May cause knocking, though? |

I think the price of the japs sway bars like that one is reaaaaally high. Enough to no one being able to tried lol But there was one guy, the one with the bright green jimny buildt from one of those japs specials, he had a slighty different looking bar than that one And also agree, how much stress that little pin can handle? But well to be honest its just road driving as in offroad ull take it away when u going to get the crazy flex angles, kinda the idea of it

The green Jimny owned by cz_ice is a 660cc turbo. It's narrow track. Steve |
