I saw that on eBay today, it's very different, it looks as if those springs are set up like radius arms.
I would love to know how it all works.

it was all the rage in the 90's along with 3/4 elliptic buggy leaf before people starting doing 4 links & coil overs etc.

Thats my mates old car
The rear is a a frame frear the same as a vit
It just has upside down leaves insted of coils
The shock need to be moved out and find the hardest valved ones u can
It can prety well flex over till it roles
A sway bar would help alot
It was a coil pack 1.6 not a vit
And it was shiting computers when my mate had it

As Atari said, was rage in the 90s in the USA,

Pretty much cut a spring pack in half, clamp/bolt to chassi, other end to diff...

Was what you seen befor 4 links etc etc

So its not really any better than a 4 link with coils?

Post subject:  Re: Ive never seen suspension like this.

These things almost always turn out with heaps of rear steer. I dont think its worth the effort to link it then use leaf springs, may aswell coil it while your at it.

For how easy a 3/4 is, its probally the cheapest way to get some flex out of the rear.

It would act the same as a 4link with coils
U could pull the leafs out and put coils in it
The coils would make it have less flex
It would also benifit form a suckdown winch

Yeah, 4link is 4link whether its coil, leaf, coilover/shock, nothing.

How you set the links will decide how it works.

$40 000 worth according to the ad, bit much..

you could get a 4link setup with almost as much flex for less than 5..

my first post btw lol

spidertrax, (Before they were spidertrax) used to make a 1/4 elliptic kit for sierras. Here's a solidworks drawing of it:

It's an idea that's had its day - it's more complex than required. It can provide massive articulation, for back when massive articulation apparently made cars more capable.
