This is an easy cheap modification you can do if you have issues with getting foriegn objects inbetween the tyre and rim while 4wding which can cause the tyres to deflate or break the bead. This usually happens when your tyres are set at low pressures. Although the Sikaflex helps the tyres stay on the rims, the main idea of this is to create an O ring which helps prevent foriegn objects such as mud, dirt and rocks being wedged in between the tyre and rim preventing the tyre from seating itself again after flexing from the rim.
Greg/1madengineer has been running his tyres like this in all the major rockcrawling competitions for years now and swears by it. I have not tested this but will be doing some wheeling over the next few weeks and will be back with an update on how it went.
Not sure if i used the right stuff but it was sitting there, so i used it. I have only done the two front tyres at this stage. I thought i'd see how they went over xmas. I guess there's a chance that he tyre may come off, then get all the dirt pressed in to the sikaflex and then it'll become a big mess. And i couldn't get one of the rear wheels off
Here's my new tyre pliers, very cool. Another concern i have is that the bead came away from the rim very easily and when reinflated, it went back on very easily, no bangs or anything, so it's like the tyres aren't tight enough on the rims, which will cause them to come off easily on the track.
