Just wondering if anyone has hand any experience with the cheep alloy radiators from ebay.
Obviously the build quality isnt going to be the worlds best product but they are cheep and they look functional.

I had a 3core one to suit a civic with my g16b in my sierra.

It cooled awesome with a smashed fan in traffic on a warm night. Just dont stop..

The fan also damaged the core which made it leak, So i had to pull it out..

They are cheap. You would never get one made here for that price.

I had to get the top modded to suit. Looks smaller than the rover one.

Its the right size (near enough) for my J20a in the LJ,
I had a sierra one converted last time and it cost me $300 so even if its a failed experiment its a cheap one i suppose.

I would try it. It will cool a lot better than the normal plastic tank style

The only reason i went back to normal style is that they are cheaper again, and easier to replace if damaged again as they are more common

Seriously though, I ran one of the LROR alloy radiators in my ute. Looked like it was straight off the boat from china. Very roughly made, looked like it had been welded by 3 different people, but I never had an issue with it. I towed a SWB sierra ( out of fuel ) for 40km straight, in frasers softest sand at high tide, and never had an issue. I was running a 14" SPAL fan though.

I'll be looking at a nice fan setup.
from a quick scope around

core size of the Rover one is 245mm x 472mm x 72mm, or 8326.080cm³

Standard LJ80 and sierra are near enough the same size
308mm x 381mm x 45mm, or 5280.660cm³

the V6 2.0 rad is
425mm x 526mm x 26mm, 5812.300cm³

should give me heaps of cooling

Asked if there was similar one to this to fit a sierra

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/2-Core-Alumi ... 3cc66e5fc9

The answer was no, but if I had a drawing of what I wanted they would make one.
Did not follow up as I picked a second hand standard one, but reply was
intresting because it was from their supplier in China.

Wonder wat the $$ would have been for custom made to size order?

i run the civic ebay job in my truggy lik timmy has above. $97 and works sweet. is backd by a cheapy ebay slimline 14" fan as its all i could fit.

While mine is not daily driven or hiway driven and only a little 1.3 it does lug 37 treps around both crawling and on a few hour straight driving through forestry trails and hill climbs and it runs nicely. Gas may help me a bit.

Rhett runs same thing in his micro with turbo too.

In the states seems a lot of guys are running cheap ebay mustang radiators, I think from a 67 or thereabouts, with their v6 conversions.
Something to think about. Overkill is a great thing with cooling.

I have read somewhere the cheap ebay knock offs are just as good as local custom jobs to the point that natrad and other 'specialist cooling' companies suppliers actually are one in the same

although i can't see how that is the case for some of the train wreck jobs i have seen come from some online retailers
