Hey, So If once I put these in (http://www.lowrangeoffroad.com/index.ph ... acers.html) would I be able to get them passed engineering wise? Has anyone got them passed? Im thinking about cutting them to only give 30mm extra strut length and the guys at lowrange think that this will be fine. thanks again guys! |

just buy extended struts from ARB, Dobinson or Ironman... no engineering required. |

Your CVs will be on borrowed time with a longer strut + spacer. Just gives you too much down travel, even with diff drops. If you want it sitting higher chuck a spring spacer in, but I'd strongly recommend not spacing struts. |

If u put a 30mm spacer in as well u need to make sure ur diff drop is more then 30mm If it is u should be fine I run 70mm spacers and its fine Dark hourse u got bigger problem in ur front end Have u got spacers on ur axels or r u running 2l cv I have 2x8mm plates welded on my lhs axel and stock cv r fine |

I had my eye on a 1" diff drop bracket cos I thought by lowering the diff 1" then lifting the car 1" with spring spacers (of 15mm in the front) wouldn't put any more pressure on my CVS than before? Thanks

The lift has very little affect on the cv as the hubs r unlocked most of the time Its the droop and steering lock the cv hate U can have 40mm more droop without a prob Thats y most after market struts are 40mm longer After that u need to move ur diff down what ever u move ur strut down Now where lift comes in to it is if u lift it 70mm then u want to drop ur diff down at least 30mm ( more is better) And drop strut down 70 mm so that u still have stock down travel If not it will ride like shit |

yeah i think Darkhorse has other issues causing it to much CV's... to answer the original question, unless they come with some sort of certificate stating what they're made from etc, i'd dare say an engineer wouldn't approve them. personally i'd grab either of these before the poly spacers as they're a bit of an unknown IMO. viewtopic.php?f=7&t=34672 viewtopic.php?f=7&t=34609 |

Yeah I'm looking for something solid like the first link ^^ cos I want to cut them down so as not to kill my CVS because of my extra strut length  Are there any other options for strut spacers to buy new online that can be cut down? Thanks for your help guys

i might be having a case of the dumbs, do they mention what the spacers are made out of... being red, i thought they were poly? i've run extended struts, strut spacers & a diff drop for more than 6 years now... the only times i've broken a CV is when i was being a nob-head with the locker on & when my tie rod snapped. |

yeah poly will be fine if it's made from the right materials & has crush tubes. i'm guessing an engineer would want some sort of official paper work to ensure they were of the correct duro rating for the poly if you were going down the path of getting everything engineered. (i wish you luck if you are i'd be budgeting 2-2.5 grand for the experience)

Yeah Im not so keen on that just cos its not meant to be that way but your probably right there doesn't seem to be anything wrong with doing that (from what Ive read) =P has anyone had any major problems with a strut mount flip? btw I got an email back and the strut spacers are Poly =) |

Most of mine have been 2nd hand, and 1.6, including one since widening. I'm now running 2L to match the widening, and haven't fragged one yet, but haven't done much driving either. Survived Lithgow OK with no spacer and taking things relatively easy. Less than $100 for a used one from a wrecker compared to $230ish for a new one from Repco is an obvious choice when they become almost a consumable. I should do the passanger side CV swap thing on the drivers side. At least it would make things hell of a lot easier to change, and at the rate I'm going through them, there will be no more drivers side CV's available in Oz. |

Dam u pay alotfor ur cv I get them for $100 cash new There shit but do the job I only do cv if its wedged up against a ledge and will not climb Fair enough with 31 locker gears And a heavy front end creat alot of traction on rock This is wat should destory cv

the red strut spacers from low range are made of poly. I know as ive just had some for the GV delivered and they look to be made of the same stuff. |
