Hey I have a 1990 Suzuki Sierra 1.3L carby. And it is currently using about 16L/100kms. I was having a look at some forums and most people are getting roughly 10-12L/100kms. I redone all the carby and cleaned it out. It has 215/80 R15 tyres on it. So if anyone could help me out as to why it's using so much fuel that would be great.
Cheers Grant

Only real thing I can think of is the mixure is way too high. Does it blow back smoke when you rev it? I don't know a lot about it but that is my first thoughts. Does it have std jets in the carb?

Sounds about wrong. Zooks will get around 10lt per 100 driving easy or hard. 16lt is way high. My sort of daily driver zook with 29" gets 300km EASY with a fill of about 30 to 32lt.

Cheers Grant Hmmmm... many possibilites: Timing is set wrong Ignition system needs replacing Carby needs rebuild You have a vacuum leak Your engine has low compression You have a valve problem Your cat converter is clogged You have stuffed brake caliper slides You have stuffed wheelbearings More info or checking needed for an internet diagnosis...

Mine gets around 16l per 100 too. Adding to the above, replace your airfilter and check that your fuel pump isn't leaking.

Cheers Grant Does it leave a blacK mark below the exhaust on start up ie spits out soot ? Does it puff black smoke at idle? It could be the choke is stuck open.

Cheers Grant Does it leave a blacK mark below the exhaust on start up ie spits out soot ? Does it puff black smoke at idle? It could be the choke is stuck closed. Fixed.

Doesnt make a difference on the driving (offroading excluded)
