Help me sierra owners!!!

What diff ratio's are available for a Sierra, i need teeth count as well :)

I need something with a tooth count on the crown wheel of around 45

Why that specific number of teeth? On a small ring gear like the Sierra, that many teeth will be fairly weak compared to other R&P sets with less teeth.

AFAIK, thse are the ratios available for 1.3 Sierra diffs:

3.727= 41/11 (WT Sierra)

3.909= 43/11 (NT Sierra)

4.09= 45/11(Jimny)

4.11= 37/9 (WT Maruti)

4.3= 43/10 (GV front)

4.556= 41/9 (US Aftermarket)

4.625= 37/8 (Vit Auto front)

4.875= 39/8 (GV front)

5.125= 41/8 (Vit Manual front)

Look I don't know much about what I'm proposing hence a bit of research

Could you perhaps combine 2 different sets of r&p and crown wheels together??

Ie: 8 tooth pinion out of my centre with a 43 tooth crown wheel from a gv???

Pinion and crown are a matching gearset. They have to intertwine perfect. So mix/match ratio parts are a no go.

Different ratios gears will be a poofteenth different size, and makes lap timing different, hence, different ratios.

Just swap a whole set.

Thankyou well that answers my question.

However the area i have highlighted is my problem... To What might I ask? I am already running a 5.125 - 1 ratio

If you're already running 5.125 diffs in a Sierra and NEED to go lower, I'd be investigating Transfer Gearing.

transfer only effects low range mate, i need hi range re gearing...

i have approached a Diff company about a custom ring and pinion set for the rear. will wait to see what they come back with $$$ wise

No I am not mistaken in asking what ratios are available for a sierra as a bit front is the same as a sierra rear this would then only require a custom vitara rear to be manufactured.

We will see when I get a quote back :)

:? gus is confused :rofl:

custom width sierra front diff with a new custom longer short side hi-tuff axle + chromos = SAS VIT?

Post subject:  Re: Sierra Diff Tooth Count

so its too fast in high range????

Custom Diffs = Equals bubba ramming his cock up your arse at high speed = getting reamed good

Why not look at different diffs if you want more reduction IE hilux 5.88 cheaper than custom and MUCH easier to replace if needed

oooooooooooookayyy...

No gus no solid axle swapsies...

The idea was that i could correct the Spastic gearing i have at the moment. Currently 5.125 on 31's Is horrid... there is no such thing as 5th gear on anything other than down hill. and driving in 4th everywhere means your revving the tits out of it on the express ways.

...So my thoughts were. Replace the Front R&P with a commonly available sierra R&P Set. Now as we are all aware higher ratio R&P sets are few and far between for the Vits. So i would get a Custom R&P Set manufactured to suit the Commonly available Sierra R&P say like the 5.38 Set that LROR sell to correct my horrible gearing. Now obviously i have to do a few calculations to find out exactly how high i will have to go to get as close to driving like stock as possible.

...Well thats my idea anyway...

Post subject:  Re: Sierra Diff Tooth Count

What about adding a sierra transfer case and getting higher diff ratios

Vitarad is 1.1 high range/ something lowrange
Sierra is 1.4 high range/ 2.2 low range

This would give you a choice of HH HL LH LL.

This si a guanausteve one to answer as this sort of question is right up his alley.

Well, now that you've explained yourself better....

5.38s probably won't help you. The difference between 5.125 and 5.375 gearing is LESS THAN 5%. That is 50rpm per 1000. So if your doing 6000rpm in 4th now, an exxy custom made rear diff in 5.38 ratio will bring your revs down to 5700rpm. Worth the cost?

A more cost effective solution would be either an Undertaker transfer, or completely new Dana diffs F + R in a significantly lower ratio like 6.17.

If the sierra is in Ipswich, Tasmania or Cullen Bullen I'd say the diff would have about 3 teeth..... :rofl:

You need a set of these. 1.3:1 reduction and more awesomeness than an Vitara can Handle. :)

viewtopic.php?f=14&t=4251&start=390

Will be cheaper than a custom R&P too. :wink:

that would be awesome!
but engineering?

Some more food for thought over the last few days. How do the XL7 Diff's hold up to 31's (that is the Non-steel versions)???
