I am hoping you can steer me in the right direction.
I have just fitted the Twisted T/T shifter and do not seem to be able to get
2 wheel drive. Whether the selector is in 2 or 4, the 4wd light is on as
soon as I select low or high range and it is in 4wd. Have I done something
wrong, I did follow the instructions faithfully

While you have 4wd selected, the light will come on when you select low or high range, it should go off in neutral.
To get it back to 2wd you just select neutral (so neither high nor low but actually select it, you will see what I mean because from 4h the stick can just move out to anywhere but still stay in gear) and then move it across, push back to 2wd and then come back across for low or high and no more 4wd or light.

I hope that helps, if not, think of it as two different sticks in the same hole, if it's on the right side you're doing range if it's on the left you're doing 2-4.

Thanks for your responses and explanations, but they have not fixed the issue. I am starting to wonder if I had brain fade and fitted the 2-4 selector fork the wrong way around. (didn't mark it 8O ) The selector feels like it is picking up the detente ball but not picking the gear.
Is this possible?

I don't remember but I don't think so, check the one that you removed to fit the new one and you will see, the part that the stick engages with is right at one end.

If you did, you wouldn't be able to move the stick to the left hand side at all let alone shift forwards and backwards because there would be no space for the shifter to go.

How is your shifter sheet? If it's rooted that might be causing you a bit of extra slop and no engagement? Is it just transfer wind up or something? Is it back in the car yet? Did you test it on the floor before putting it back in the car or filling it up?

If I think of some more I'll let ya know.

Thanks Teracis for the lesson on how to use it.
Update after more investigation. It appears that I am getting 2wd but the 4wd light comes on whether I am in 2 or 4wd. when in 2wd the front shaft can be turned by hand but as soon as I pick low or high the light comes on.
Any clues?

Ball where the 4wd switch is not in properly or stuck to switch or something, or somehow the shift rail is pushing it when it shouldn't?
Did you damage the switch putting it back in and now its making the circuit constantly?

Light switches off when in neutral but comes on in either range and in 2wd and 4wd.
Tomorrow I will pull out the switch and investigate

Sounds like something is amiss then, you definitely put the new shift rail in? Did you grind the one down that's required? It's hard to tell without seeing it, you may be able to take the transfer out and have a look down the shifter hole and move it around to see what's going on without actually pulling it apart.
