i've read something like this before on a US forum & it could be the caliper fowling on the spring & not letting it slide or something similar like that.

Hopefully someone will have the answer for this one. For a while now I've been putting up with a sometimes scary issue of that the brake's sometimes don't want to do their job of actually working. As an example, when I pull into a tight car spot, steering on full lock, the brake pedal go's all the way to the floor unless I straighten the wheel and keep pumping the pedal. At first I thought it may be that the brake lines are kinking and causing air in the lines, but when I turn the wheel left then right and inspected the brake lines there is still a bit of slack in the line, they're not kinking or tight. There's plenty of fluid in the resivour, And the brake lines have been bled properly, a while a go now but the issue was there prior to doing so. So what can it be? |

Really loose front wheel bearings? Just an idea.... If you pump the pedal up, does it gradually sink to the floor? that's the "normal" sign of a leaky M/C |

Yes the wheel bearings were very loose but I've very recently had them replaced and it still happens, no evidence of brake fluid leaking and the pedal feels normal when pressed afterwards. The fluid level hasn't changed in well over 3 months. When the pedal go's to the floor and I pump while still on full lock the pedal pressure doesn't return unless the wheels are turned slightly straight |

Could the check valve in the top of the booster be stuffed? Didn't Christover have this issue with his vit? |

When you are on full lock, the revs will drop slightly as the powersteer pump is loaded up. This will reduce the manifold pressure slightly. Maybe by enough to equalise the pressure in the booster and manifold, if it is indeed the non-return valve on the booster.

hmm that kinda makes sense. so what would be the remedy? Hopefully not a new Master cylinder, they're really good fun to replace.

I believe the check valve is in the plastic barb in the top of the booster. I can't remember. I know that Christover has changed his. Perhaps a PM to him will sort it out for you. |

You lot think too much! Too much lock + lifted vit = caliper hits spring and knocks the piston back a bit so you have to pump it back in place Adjust your steering stops a bit so it doesnt hit, or just left foot pump the pedal as you roll into tight spots like I do
