Gday guys

IM about to change my factory clutch out, just seeing if anyone with a post 05 model jimny with vvt has swapped out there clutch for a heavy duty item, can only find pre 05 model clutches.

anyone know any part numbers or brands to go with.

I must have a heavier clutch in my Jim then, doesn't mater how much you adjust the clutch it still pretty dam hard to push the clutch in.

I discovered today that the dowels in the Liana flywheel are spaced too wide for the Jimny pressure plate so I'll be using the Jimny flywheel for now as I can't afford a new clutch atm.

Tried to buy a 5 point torx bit today but lucked out so I'll be drilling the heads off and using a more conventional screw.

Tomorrow is the big day, can't wait for the test drive.

Bugsta put one into his 2009 but I think it caused his front passenger side control arm to snap, his engine to ventilate itself, his clock spring to snap, his axle to snap, his body to warp and grow monkey bars, and the Jimny to roll often... but not 100% certain it was the cause. Why do you want one? It will still burn out just as quick if you're slipping it, and a stock replacement will happily clamp with over two tonne load.

Pretty sure Bugsta has a standard Exedy but is been modded by some shop.

I need it cause im pushing 200kw at all 4 in low range ha ha ha ha was just seeing anyones opinions on one, So stock it is Thought it might help with having to ride the clutch " mainly in day to day situations 2wd, bad habit of mine on hills and such" also dosnt help with the mrs not being 100% confident when offroad she loves to burn it "cough cough" And when she goes on holdiday sometime soon Im hoping i can sneak in some sierra gear to help me out, she wont notice a thing ha ha ha ha ha.

Don't let me talk you out of it, but I just don't think it will help much. Someone has to try one sometime to give us all feedback of its performance.

A HD clutch won't last any longer when 'slipping the clutch', than a standard clutch will. It will however be harder to slip, due to higher clamping pressure. Thismakes driving in traffic an absolute bitch. Your leg will get sore twice as fast, and you may even stall it more often. My ute had a HD clutch and (for many reasons) I hated it. First issue was trying to feather the clutch in traffic. IMO if you don't have a legitimate need for a HD clutch, you are just ruining the factory drivability of your car for nothing.

I put an Australian Clutch co. in my jim. It's so much better / smoother than factory. Plus it was only $140.00 from Autobarn.

looking at dropping a new clutch into mine, as she is starting to feel a bit... off. http://www.australianclutch.com.au/cata ... rentid=135 has anyone tried ceramic clutches, are they any better ware and tare wise offroad/ geting filled up with water? i assume the rear main seal is still going to be the weakest point not the clutch itself but...

I'm starting to get the odd bit of slip in mine due to the extra torque from the 1.8 but I'll swap to Liana flywheel and clutch when the time comes

The short story – Liana clutch/flywheel won’t fit in Jimny!! Not in my 2010 M15 engined R72 gearbox version. Current clutch is Excedy purple sports but is worn out and partially cooked so I am up for clutch and surfaced flywheel. Hence the thought of using the bigger Liana clutch to get more grip for standard pedal pressure. The longer story – some crucial dimensions that tell you why it won’t fit – measured not so accurately with verniers.I mated the engine with Liana flywheel and clutch, to the gearbox – the clutch lever had some play, but the TO bearing was hard against the stepped gearbox snout and was compressing the pressure plate fingers. Some critical dimension differences for Liana over Jimny +3.0mm thicker FW; +6.0mm FW disk friction surface to rear; +7.5mm PP fingers to the crankshaft flange (no disk installed); this would reduce with the disk installed so probably no problem; +8.0mm gearbox side of disk boss to the crank flange; might be a problem but a couple of mm could be taken off the boss if need be; The Liana FW has a raised friction surface (+0.4) cf: to Jimny which is recessed (-2.0mm); the Liana disk JUST fits in the standard disk recess diameter wise, but this could be enlarged no problem;Bell housing has enough room diameter wise. So the Liana FW and clutch would not fit, but I thought maybe the Liana PP and disk, with the Jimny flywheel.The Jimny FW would need to have 2.4mm+ machined from the area outside the disk friction surface, to provide a raised friction surface to match the Liana clutch setup (and drilled for bolts and dowels on the new PCD). This gets us closer to specs for the Jimny TO bearing position but to be sure another 1.5-2mm off the flywheel face would need to be shaved off.I did a VERY rough calc and it seems that I would lose ~15% FW weight, (assuming the structural integrity of the FW could be maintained), and I don’t really want a lightened flywheel in my 4WD. So new "standard" clutch kit.

I've also got an extreme HD and its not too hard but I'm also used to having a button clutch in my old daily drive as well so compared to that its soft. Only thing is the pilot bearing was incorrect ID for my year (2012) they where happy to replace but I just reused the original one as it wasn't that old anyway.

Has anyone installed the Liana flywheel, clutch in Jimny?? Any problems? I'm about to try but worried about clutch adjustment as there is a few mm difference in height of the pressure plate fingers ( to rear face of crankshaft). And a lot of trouble pulling engines in and out on my own to check!
