I've got the whispbar bars on k324 gutter mounts for my tin-top. I really only use it to mount my awning (single best beach mod to date!!!).
I was gonna buy a roof top basket that was for sale the other day on here but some omnipotent prick snagged them before I had a chance!

I bought my tin top with alloy basket already on it. No idea what brand. Limited to 30kgs. :crazy: put anything and everythin on it. Only spotties on now.

1) No, I have two.
2) Rola racks (Landcruiser 100 series cut down to fit Sierra).
3) They are gutter mounted.
4) I have bike mounts fitted so that I look all cool and fit and stuff. They're not quite cool enough to suit my image though, so I think I'm going to replace them with ski holders instead.

3) Mounted to factory rails via Rhino feet
4) Awning mounted on one side, shovel on other. Carry Canoe, ladder and soon my rooftop tent when it isn't mounted on my trailer.

I have the supercrap ones with a basket mounted to my roof rails. I don't recomend them because if you like to wash your car (yes some of us wash our Suzuki's) you can't get your hand and sponge between the basket and the roof. The roof racks also seem to 'flex' a bit whenever you put a bit of weight on them. I've alway's had the industrial square tube rhino racks in the past and they've always been really good

Rack - not exactly - basket - coming soon hopefully.

I have crossbars - the first were made of wooden 2x2s notched to sit on the GV roof rails and those were strapped along with whatever was on them to the rails using ratchet tiedown straps.

The wooden bars have given way to some cheap chinese RHS bars - they look half decent and work reasonably well.

What do I use them for? Whatever's too long to fit inside - french windows (about 84" long x 24" wide), tent, pipe, ladder.

I've been meaning to put a basket and maybe an awning, but I haven't gotten a round tuit yet

think it's a Rhino. Use it for surfboard. Basket for trips . Holds solar panel. Card table, chair, stove stand. Never had a problem with it and I've has quite a weight on it sometimes.
also have a stip of wood on racks to hang a tarp / sunshade.

Except I don't have Sailborads or Windsufers. I have a roof bag too but I havn't had the need to use it.

It's also a good mounting point for the side awening which I'm off to attatch right.............. Now.

I have the same as pictured by BAZOOK above.

Mine were off a commodore wagon at the wreckers.

Pop rivet and silicone the mounting rails onto the roof & cut down the cross bars to suit.

$40 and a dozen pop rivets later, all done.

just went for a walk around the local wreckers (we only really have one good one) and NO roof racks on ANYTHING! i couldnt believe it. dude rekons they are the 1st thing to go

looks like i might be up for the 300 odd for a new rhino rack.

after found no racks, did a walk around for cargo barriers to cut down. found one from a holden wagon, but didnt like it.
fuck i hate Townsville sometimes.

Check out ebay. They come up pretty frequently. Easily <$100

Go to the wreckers armed with a cordless drill and a screw driver and you can usually find the tracks off some other car, like camry's, commo's. I bought a pair of racks off ebay for $15, I bought them just for the bars, cut them down to size and bought new track mount ends. All up cost me just under $100. The bar ends being the most expensive item because I had to get them new.

Anything and everything but I wouldn't put more than 50kg up there.

Windcheater rack from Front Runner (South Africa manufacturer but supplied by Opposite Lock locally)

Mounted directly to the roof rail studs but it did require the fitting of one extra rivnut per mounting foot

Used for bulky light itmes at the moment (mattress, sleeping bags etc) Plan to put a second spare up there eventually.

Very strong rack with pretty much no wind noise. The flat plate you see in the photos below is a wind deflector. Has provision for mounting lights as well. A good feature is the slots that allow the mounting of hold down eyes, spare wheel brackets and a range of accessories very easily. The top of the runners are the same as the lower side shown in one of the photos below.

Yep, Rola low profile rack- sill mounted.
Fitted on my Sierra.
Throw a basket on top for weekend camping trips, otherwise handy for runs to Bunnings or throwing the boards on the roof.

Got Rhino heavy duty bars gutter mounted and a basket on a high roof SJ50.
Used for 60 lt fuel and 40 lt water on outback treks. Terrible idea to put so much weight up on top, but nowhere else for it and don't want fuel inside due to smell.
Managed to crack the gutter in one place during a particularly rough trip, so now I have three bars. I'd put four, but the roof is barely long enough! Rhino make a spacer which I have on the front bar to keep them all level.
EBay is your friend - I've bought and sold bars and accessories until I got all the right bits. Set up a search so you get notifications 'cos they turn over.
There's also one Rhino dealer active on eBay who does better than retail on bits and pieces for the hard to get bits - send him a message for stuff not listed.
Supercrap also sell a Rhino knock-off.

Spose I should put up what ive been doing with my roofrack that ill never need (but had a use for already)

Rhino tracks and 50mm feet, drilled to bolt directly to the rola basket, its currently 55mm off the roof but I am going to make some better brackets for the U bolts (wire rope grips pompoms ) to lower it more and look a bit nicer.

Its going to be a fair pain in the ass to remove and put back on so hopefully it doesnt effect fuel usage too much, doesnt seem to make any difference on the highway.
