I have a 1.3 sump on a 1.6 engine. I've never pulled a sump off before so am just wondering how much space is inside and can i modify the sump without affecting the oil/engine bits.

I was thinking about "shaving" the sump to create more room for the diff pumpkin.

yeah i wanted to shave about an inch off the front shallow end.

I have a spare crap motor at home which i can take apart and check, and modify the sump from that.

I made a sump bash guard, and it copped a little whack on the weekend :?

I have thought about bumpstop extensions, but didn't want to lose the up travel. I guess i could try them first coz they'd be less work.

I don't like things that stop things doing what they're supposed to do

I had a look at mine, that I got off Royce and it had a cage over the bearing blocks that stuck out about an inch and there was no way the sump was going over it. Mind you the sump had the baffle in it not sure how much room if you remove that
