Will 215/75/R15 BFG A/Ts fit on my brand new stock standard Jimny? I am getting a 2'' TD lift kit in a week but could get the tyres already to save time before heading off on my xmas break. I would only be driving on road until I get the lift but have heard that they can damage the front bumper on new models with out lift. The tyre salesmen recommends a wheel alignment so getting that done before the lift would be pointless. Is a wheel alignment even necessary? |

You will need to chop your bumper lift or no lift... So you maze well put them on... |

I have them on my on my 2010 Jimny with no mods at all. Only driving on road, and no problems. Never heard any sounds of rubbing or anything unusual (once I learned what the sound of a tiny rock caught in the tread is  )

this thread of mine shows how my BFG's fit without lift. Scrubbed badly. http://auszookers.com/index.php?name=Fo ... ic&t=24854 The chop is super easy to do - mark it out with masking tape then take it off and take to it with a jigsaw, cutting disc or hacksaw. the plastic cuts like butter. Read the whole thread ZukeDuke and look at his pictures, you'll see we told him this before he started hacking at his bumper. Listen to matt_g, he speaks truth. You should have no scrubbing with 215's and a lift kit except perhaps your front mudflaps will need removing or modifying. If you turn full lock to the righ for example while attacking a mound/rock and your right hand suspension compresses the outer edge of the 215 tyre is likely to scrubb on the mud flap, take the flap off or modify and you will probably have no scrubbing. My jimny had minor scrubbing off road with 215's Hankook Dynapro's and STOCK suspension. add your lift kit and you'll be fine, especially your front bumper. Won't scrubb there unless something is bent like 45tr0's. Remember the lift kit will bring your front axle closer to the rear of the arch so if anywhere thats the part that usually scrubs not the front bumper. |

I'm about to change my tires, and was thinking about installing 215/75. Have a 2" lift, so from what I've read here there will be probably no scrubbing, but what about full compression when offroading, like when approaching a dune, the lift will make no difference in this case, since the front will go to it's highest position anyway. |

You have just understood more about vehicle suspension than 95% of 4WDers and 125% of Facebook users. However, I believe 215's fit under full compression with standard suspension when used on standard wheels. manufacturers generally provide 25mm of clearance around the tyre under all situations to allow for the fitment of snow chains. The 215's just eat that space up. the trimming required is due to steering mostly, which you will need to deal with regardless of the lift or not. |
