mk1 is much narrower and cam belt diffrent pullys, mk2/3 are wider..

g13a
square cut belt, 5bolt bottom pully, multi rib pully

round cut belt, 4 bolt bottom pully, Vbelt pully

It actually depends on the year - and not all G13b engines are 16v DOHC GTi engines.

I have a G13b here (which I've had from new) that is an 8V SOHC engine - with square cut timing belt, four hole bottom pulley & a multi-rib accessory belt.

I also have a G13b (that I know the history of) that is a 16v DOHC engine with round cut timing belt, five hole bottom pulley and multi-rib accessory belt.
