there is a really loud creaky sorta crackling sorta tapping noise coming from my back right wheel, i have checked the brakes and wheel nuts cannot figure out what it is. it gets louder and faster the faster you drive and almost sound like the wheels gonna come off sometimes. Any Ideas of what it could be maybe axle problem???? |

![]() Haha yeah, i had the same thing recently, sounded like there was a rock caught in the drum brake or something turned out my bearing wasa knackered and dry as a bone, no grease at all. 9 hours later of cursing headscratching and blood the new wheel bearings were installed.

is it possible for diff oil to pass the wheel bearing and come out within the drum brake, because that looks like the problem? |

Yes but that often is the result of stuffed wheel bearing, the wobbling stuffs the seal |

is there oil in the brake drum or on the bake of the brakes because it may also be leaking wheel cylinders on your brake but if your wheel bearings are stuffed it is probably the seals |

There is oil all through the drum brake its causing the brake pads to catch so now the brakes sound like they are grinding the whole time mainly on the one side, You can see the oil leaaking from the axel. The original clicking and tapping noise has actually gone |

The original clicking and tapping noise has actually gone The tapping noise would of been your bearing failing, and with it floggin around it destroys your seal, the oil goes through the bearing (which would of been why its stopped making spastic sounds as its now nice and lubricated) and into your drum. They aren't expensive to buy. Just a little annoying to fit. If you get stuck getting one or someones trying to rip you off email me at nathan.w@bearingdynamics.com.au ( WT are $50 a wheel, NT are $38 a wheel and overnight freight is $16.50) cheers weaves |
