Hi All,
I will have a rear 3.9 centre to put in the front of a WT diff for my coily. Which lock right do I order? With side gears or without? I'm assuming without.
Low Range Locker's
Apologies if this has been discussed already. The search function is a pain in the ass to use on an iPhone
Cheers
Rusho

I would go WITH, so then you dont have to worry about any potential problems with worn sidegears stuffing you around on your already hard to get right locker
Actually saying I would go is a false statement cause no way would I buy one of them things, cue Locker hate thread derail

Does one or the other engage smoother? If so i would go with the type that engages the best.
If he buys one that re-uses the stock side gears, then can he switch it from front to rear with just a side gear change, rather than buying a new couplers?
By the way make sure which end you want to lock. The front makes 22 spline where as the rear takes 26 spline. If you are putting a locker up front I would recommend the 26 spline unit, and some 26 spline chromo's to make your axles last.
How much more is it for one of the Chinese air locker? Just thought.

1510 lockright as it uses your sidegears and is alot gentler on axles. It takes a few drives to free up so take it easy till then.

nope and I drove with a welded rear in a daily driver for several years.
I think there are too many times when you dont want any locked diffs offroad to make lockrites an advantage and there still always seems to be times when they jsut go wrong and play up.
They might be value for money but I think its an area not worth trying to save money on

The thought crossed my mind. At this stage my finances just don't allow for an air locker. I wish they did.
I will be running cromo's also and will have a rear centre to put in the front

Why not go for a Spartan instead? I'm pretty sure they're cheaper. Mine is very quiet and very smooth in it's operation, only bangs and clunks around the car parks. And I was able to install it in the driveway having never seen the inside of a diff before

Note that the locker with side gears (couplers) is 26 spline, so you'll need some CroMo axles to run with it...

I did spartan front and rear. They use your side gears and no shims.
If you using a rear and chromos you should have side gears that fit, but flip the sides they are on so the not worn leading edge is on the drive side, and the worn side trailing. they will unlock easier with your foot off and hopefully not unlock under drive at the wrong time if you do this.
I did do power steering at the same time which made them much easier to deal with in 4wd, and would have fit a chinasong in there by now if I still had the car.
