hey people, i need some help withing something simple..... just installed some driving lights and when i switch them on they have a faint glow????? i thought i have wired it up all right but i guess not. any one know what it might be??? |

where did you get your power feed from? do each light have a separate earth wire & power wire or are they earthed through the mounting bolt & only have a power wire? |

it was a pre fabed loom, and it am just testing it straight from the battery. i must admit i have never had much luck with lights..... |

it has two wires comming from the relay, one goes to the battery and the other is earthed out. |

have a look through this thread for a guide to wiring it all up, the suzuki's are negatively switched which means most prefabbed looms will need tweaking. http://www.auszookers.com/index.php?nam ... spotlights maybe there is an AZ'er near you that could give you a hand? to get them to work well, they need a good clean earth as well as a decent power feed. |

yeh i think it might be the fact that there is only one wire from the spotlights to the relay, not two as royces diogram suggests. and that is the only thing i can see different. i did not think it would make that much difference, i unpluged one of the lights and the other went heaps brighter...............XD |

sounds like you arent getting enough power somewhere, check your connection to the battery is nice and solid |

nah wouldn't one be bright and one be dull for that? and when he unplugs one the would break the circuit for series. you have a bad connection some where. unless the lights are just plain rubbish? |

Either parallel or in series, both lights will illuminate the same, not one brighter than the other, so, both bright or both dull. |

x2, assuming no issues with spotlights themselves. good article to have a read of is http://www.auszookers.com/index.php?nam ... sc&start=0 has a lot of info on headlight upgrade, but on the diagrams you can see the wiring for the spotties, may be of some help... |

You mentioned that they were 'XS or something" Are they the Auto XS lights from Aldi. (Yellow and balck box). I purchased a set of these when they were on special last week and then promptly took them back for a refund. I tested them and found they were not very bright (in fact my 34 year old Cibie Oscars were 10 times better). They do have both an earth and a power lead directly to each light but one of the connectors fell apart when I was testing them and also I suspected a dodgy relay. If they are the Aldi ones you might want to check that all the connectors are actually making a good contact and also try another relay. Royce's wiring loom might be the way to go if you are not experienced. |

yeh those are the ones. i attached the light straight to the battery and the brightness blew me away. i think its all to do with the supplied loom as the wires are all thin shit. will rip it all out and use some good wire and see how i go. i do like the idea of royces loom but i am a little short of cash. will get one later

just follow the guid provided in the link above. the trick is to use fat ass wire!!!! if u have a pre fabed loom that is not a brighteyes then do not follow the instructions. and you will prob have to upgrade the wires that carry the load (battery to relay and then to lights) Earth it out well!!! and you are done

spotties i bought were the same, wire looked like it was 10amp crap... i tossed it and went overkill with 50A wire.
