doesn sit at the right hight, better suited to a 50 mm lift, and plus trying to get bigger front coils is a mission |

upgrading front coils and keeping rear with the factory ones... dnt see the point really I wouldnt trust on it to be honest.... not only aftermarket/factory, but also different ratings, specs, thickness, and the fact that in my case (2002 model) would mean having a new 0km spring vs an 9 years old 150.000kms spring.... pppfff
and I almost forgot.... u re lifting the car 3" (according to them |

let me know how you go get some pics, on flex and level ground forget the haters who dont wanna try much in there miserable lives lol. with the exception of the fella who has tried it ha ha ha. p.s you would have to be pretty stupid to use a 9 year old used spring anyways........... |

If a coil spring has been fitted appropriately - that is it's not binding or being stretched by long shocks and retainers, there should be nothing that can happen to a coil spring. What could happen to it? I have not seen any evidence of coil springs degrading over time. Steve. |

Steve. well yeh maybe u re right, I dnt really know much bout metal... but still I dnt like the idea of it and still I dnt see the point at all of buying 4 new shocks and only 2 coils (plus the other goodies needed for a 3" lift they claim).... the price of 2 coils is not really much saving when u have to buy everything else....

If they are the right coil, they are the right coil, why buy something twice? Steve |

I was just talking about the kit itself, and I jsut point out the "save money" fact, as its the only reason that I see why they sell this coils for.... some kind of "budget 3" lift", as u only have to buy 2 coils and keep using ur old ones..... but its not a budget lift at all as if its a truly 3", ull still need to change 4 shocks, panhards, castor bushes..... and after all that spending u re just better off adding a bit more for 2 coils more and buy a completely new kit instead
its interesting the fact that the front coils in the back give more lift and stuff, and would be cool to see if it actually works, but for me IMO its not worth it |

It would be over a $200 saving of the lift though... |

zuk85 wrote: no, but they do tend to sag after years of abuse and weight on them....... What does this mean? I really haven't ever seen a coil car that's lost height over years. do you have any concrete measurements? Have you replaced stock jimny springs on an old car with new springs with the same part number? I'm not being a shit, I'm genuinely interested in this. I have seen plenty of loose old coil cars, but there's no evidence that that's associated with spring sag - it's more flogged out shocks and bushes. It is apparently that coil springs can loose their temper over time, but I would suggest that in a spring that's not overcompressed or heated, this would be a slower process than an automotive lifetime. Steve. |

Steve. Yes that temper they loose, which is the spring load will change over the years of abuse and heavy weight put into and onto the car, which makes them softer and will cause the coil too compress on itself under load. of course all springs wether it be coils or leafs, sag over the years they are a wearing part taking all the load of the car, and the shit we put in it. but you might get a old car with good coils or leafs obvioulsy been well looked after not put in heavy load situations constantly in its owner to owner lifetime |

Ok so i tired putting the coil in the rear today
It gave me about 65-70mm of lift, i went for a drive with them, and IMO the coil rate is perfect. It rides great, handles bumps great and flexs really well to....but for me they did not give me enough height, but i might get some coils spacers for the rear, cus i liked them sooooo much.

might try the same thing as my toughdog 3" is so fucking rough, and the standard is much smoother. |
