:helloo:
my vitara clutch doesnt engage until the peddle is almost all the way out, it doesnt slip or anything though. can i adjust it so it engages sooner or is this a sign my clutch its on its way out?
how do i adjust it?
also, any tips on how to get the rear brake drums off? they seem to be seized on. Big hammer? or is there a trick to it?

cheers
alex

Did you remember to take the handbrake off before trying to remove the drums?

Should come off pretty easy.

chances are your wearing your clutch out... There is an arm connected to the clutch cable which is on the Drivers side of the gearbox. it has a tensioning nut, adjust that until your happy with the height of engagement.

if you run out of tensioner before it gets low enough to the floor. then chances are you'll be up for a new clutch soon :)...

to make the clutch take up earlier undo the nut on the end of the cable (gearbox end) a turn or 3, its not a sign of clutch wear unless its never been adjusted or the cable has never stretched, a better sign is if it feels stiff or slips some when you take off

the drums, hit the face the wheel sits against with a hammer, also try tapping around the outside, dont put wd40 anywhere near anything to do with brakes

take the 4 axle bolts out ( If after 96 no need to)
and then with a rubber mellet hit the sids of the drumand the a sharp wack to the face along side the axle bolts either side. This should crack it and the hand either side of the drum and wiggle it back and fourth.

Side hit will centre the brake shoes and the front wack will spring it apart.

Well that is the plan. If not refer to original post. HELP!!!
