Just wondering if anyone on here has removed the vacuum choke set up off of their Sierra before? After 13 faithful years the old coily carb is starting to give me the shits! any info would be appreciated. Cheers Richo |

there is no vacuum choke, its coolant powered after 13 years try servicing and repairing whatever is wrong with the carb rather than just chopping bits off it |

As far as i know it is a choke issue, at the rear of the carby (closest to firewall) there is a plastic cog with a metal lever type thing attached to it and lately the engine has started idolling at around 2500rpm and when i push down on that lever the revs drop down to around 800 however when i let go the revs go back up, i tried adjusting this via the lock screw underneath which seemed to fixed the problem for a while but it has started idolling at around 2000rpm now. Sounds like you're closing the butterfly. Push harder on it and see if it stalls. Get it tuned, solved my idle speed and mixture issues. |

Check that there is water flowing through the choke assembly. One of the pipes attaches to the manifold with a "T" section which has a flow restrictor in it. This can get blocked up easy. |
