Hey, If you remove the sleeves and bore out the block and fit new sleeves what is the capacity you can get a 1.0ltr sierra engine to? Thanks, Jackson |

X2. 1.0 litres are cool and tough - tougher than 1.3's, but they are really a lost cause now - you'll end up with heaps of money in the motor and still be way behind an EFI 1.6 for drivability. You'll be fabricating inlet manifolds to give it enough power etcetcetc - it's all a huge amount of work for limited return. One of the big problems with the 1.0 isn't even the motor - it's the gearbox. With a tall first gear (3.0:1) and a small clutch, 1.0's struggle to maintain their drivability offroad. Steve. |

Fair enough. Well another question has anyone tried putting one of the older 2.2 ltr diesel hilux motors in a sierra? |

Yes no sleves,,, the biggest pistons ive seen in a F10 is 60 thou, not sure what brand they were, we threw the block out as was too worn and not worth sleves at the time. As 4 putting in a 2L 2.4 toyota dsl,,,,,,,,, Why would any one want to put an engine in a vehicle that weighs almost as much as the whole car,,,, could imagine how long the diffs and transfer would stand up |

Unless you're talking about a G10A 3cyl 1.0 from a Swift? These were an alloy block with cast-in liners like a G13 or G16 block, but the bores are broadly the same size range as the 1.3 and 1.6 engines. You won't bore out a G10A to be anywhere near the capacity of a 1.3 without adding another cylinder. |

I'm yet to be convinced that any diesel is a good conversion for a sierra but I'm 100% sure the 2L hilux motor is a terrible one. Weight and useable rev range are the big problem. The car goes from light, balanced and revvy to nose heavy, poorly geared and unresponsive. I'm not anti diesel, they're just not the right motor for a sierra. Steve. PS the best motor for a 1.0litre sierra is a 660cc F6A/K6A turbo from Japan. Same power and torque (stock) as a 1.3, injection, plenty of revs, light and tuneable - and a 5 speed gearbox. |
