Who's doing your tuning? they might have some ideas for you. With 8lb you should be able to run the stock compression. A good intercooler and good fuel will most likely be necessary. |

the motor will be decompressed. and allready have intercooler and tunded to 4 pound. just need strong internal setup to run higher boost and be reliably. thanks damo |

What pistons & rods are you going to use? How did you lower the compression? |

the vitara's have low compression any way mate, thats why the guys with turbo GTI swift use the vitara pistons you should be good up to id say 10-12 psi and even higher if you double the head gasket. I had a turbo GTI with forged vitara pistons an ran 42PSI on the stip. |

thanks guys but ive been told 6psi is max for stock vitara 1.6. all i need is a list of strong internals for my motor builder because he is having trouble finding it in perth. thanks again |

A decent engine builder SHOULD know all the contacts for the items and resources he needs. Wiseco or Arias would have forged pistons to suit. I've read standard pistons will cope with relativly low boost of 6psi, so ACL pistons are good replacements. Of course like with any rebuild the bores should be honed, the crank re-balanced and for optimum performance, the head should be rebuilt with a new or reground cam, 3 angle valve job with new valves, might as well match-port the inlet and exhaust ports. |
