I have the same problem. I have just been turning the music up but it has been getting louder over the past few months. Could it be caused by water/mud in the rear diff? or maybe diff oil needs to be changed? or ya something in the transfer might do it as well |

It is hard to say - You could drain all the fluids, and see if any has nice metallic shiny oil come out of it? |

Ya I was going to suggest something with bearings, they usually make that kind of noise when they ware out. can someone tell us where the bearings are and how to get to them? |

Inside the transfer case 1 roller bearing on each end of the input shaft, 2 needle rollers in the counter shaft , 2 rollers and 3 needle rollers on the output shaft

My transfer whined pretty loud immediately after putting gears in it, you can hear that it's just the brand new gears meshing together. It's heaps quieter now, in fact I'm about to go and do my first transfer case oil change since I put the gears in two weeks ago, it hasn't done the full 1000 miles (1600km) that they say to do, but they also say to change it after the first time offroad, which was two days after I put the gears in and I didn't go very hard so I figured it needed more time to wear in. It's done probably 800 or so km since they went in, bloody good improvement it has made! |

not to change topic but Teracis have you noticed better fuel consumption since putting the gears in? I thought I did for the first tank, I'm on 235's with 6.5 gears. Problem is, my zook is having issues which have gotten worse since so I haven't done a real world test yet. Whether they improve fuel economy or not, they make the thing far FAR more driveable, it would not be nice to go back to stock gears now! |

true, I think I'll do my case then on a few months. by that time my clutch will be completely rooted and I can do them both. ok, back to bearings |

I work for a national bearing company and I can tell u now that u should definitely get ur bearings off Weaves. That's a DAMN good price for those bearings and seals. Good on ya Weaves  |

Haha ive spent all arvo chasing the same issue, plus a leak on the rear seal on the transfer case doesnt help the cause, plus all the more reason to change em! Another thing i wanted to check was the rear diff oil, except its like the plug is welded in! Tried every way we knew how without using a welder/grinder. With 2 fitters and a mechanic on it i think we might have to use the grinder Weaves will be making some more cash soon! |
