Howdy,
Sold my vitara ages ago but am thinking about getting another zook.
Just wondering if the old sierras are better off roaders than the new jimnys?
Is it worth getting a sierra or are they just too old now?
Does the new jimny have any advantages over it?
Thanks

this threat is going to go for ever ... hehehe
sierras they do have some more strong components, more accessories to buy/modify, cost less to buy, but they re coming rare to find with no rust
they are getting old, now they re still ok.... but in a few years they would become like wht its the LJs today
sierras re more of a soft-top car.... there re hard tops, but they re even more rare to find in mint condition
jimnys re a hardtop car.... very few soft tops (and they re ugly as hell)
you can find good jimnys in good price, as find new ones in expensive price too........ wht it actually push the balance to the sierras for the "customize level".... is just the fact that is not the same to play chop chop or frankestain with a 15.000$ car, than a 2000$ one
Jimnys have coils... give you a smooter ride on road, and they can be equally as tough offroad than leaf...... yes, it cost more and its more difficult to modify/lift...... but you would see a lot of ppl would claim this post fake ahhaaha.... mainly for the "leaf vs coil" thing
there is better comfort inside the jimnys, they still look like a car inside... some sierras still re too, but other they barely have the seats.... rough interior.... its fun I dnt mind it, I kinda like it.... but some ppl dnt
bout power, torque, ect.... other ppl can tell you better bout that
Jimnys re a modern version of the sierras.... the only downfall is they kept the engine the same size, and they (donno why) reduce the wheel arch to the bare minimum..... making it harder to fit bigger tyres
every day there is a new product for the jimnys out there, and there re developing more...... and when the sierras become too rust, they would be even more and more
they still got live axles and low range, so they re still good to offroad
IMO go for Jimny
now let all the sierra fanatics destroy my post
dnt get me wrong I love sierras and the look of them...... but having a too basic knowledge of mechanics I didnt want to go for an old car.... with the money that I had I went for my 2002 jim, that I knew it wont gonna give me issues for a long time, and it was bit more comfty and with AC, nice interior, ect

Thanks Bert
I ride a motorbike to and from work and most places. I am after a car for rainy days, for shopping and for beach fishing. On top of that, it needs to be able to tow a 450kg jet ski on non braked trailer.
Some people say i am better of spending $20k on a used hilux or pajero but i like the idea of brand new and easy to fix/maintain.
Would the jimny suit me?
Or are zooks just too gay?
Thanks again

Do I detect a touch of troll here?
Sierras are great up the beach. Can't beat a soft top on the beach! And they are easy to hose out when you get back

No trolling
I would go out tomorrow and buy a brand new jimny if regional australians or australians in general werent openly homophobic and jimnys werent reknowned throughout the free world for being as nearly as gay as a vitara.
Seriously, its sad that i cant buy a car that i like because of reputation and stereotypes.
That is the only thing that turns me off zooks.
The next best thing is a jeep wrangler but that is also a gay icon.
I like pussy dammit!
Why do land cruisers have to be $70k

Unless you have questions about your own sexuality what does it matter? And you want a sierra anyway, cos jimnys are gay

I wish i had that attitude.
But it does matter when you are on a bunbury beach fishing with bogans driving past in a hilux calling you a faggot.
Whish it didnt get to me but it does.
Gotta fit in and all.
Maybe you city yuppies have more tolerant ferals.

They are all just jealous,
cos they know that thier own POS can't out drive a zook.
People who put you down have low self esteem,
don't like themselves,
and should just be pitied

I get called all sorts of names,
even more when traded in my Sierra for a Vitara...
but I feel no need to use words to defend it,
I just out drive them, then they cork it )

Speaking of Metrosexual wrangler drivers.
Up here in Cairns after the Cyclone. I saw some shiella in a new Wrangler. With a rope attached to the back of her wrangler to a log. Right of the side of a highway... And she... As a result of her complete stupidity. Got herself extremeley bogged right next to the highway..

I know wht your saying, I came from a country 90% ruled by landcruisers...mainly swb 70 series, in here they called "bundera", in my country we called "macho", or "machito"
even me that I had a swb version of the 90 series Prado, sometimes were called gay, and It would never crossed in my mind to never ever own a jimny..... "cmon, my washer machine has more engine than that....."
but when I came to australia and start looking for a 4wd, I started to investigate about the zooks... in here there not swb landcruisers.... and the other models re just too farking expensive for the year/kms
so I sarted to look in other areas... jeeps where good price....but no for fuel economy, and the "its a jeep thing"... sorry I didnt have it in me hahah
so I look for zooks, and looking for sierras I started to investigate abut the jimnys, and it amazed me how capable they re, and all the mods it can be done.... eventually I came across this website and I started to fall in love with the zooks
honestly I think the whole "real 4wds re either a big 80/105 series landcruiser, or a huge pootrool" thing is more gay than our small cars
at least we re not using our BIG cars to compensate for something
and like everyone says.... they can call u gay, but jsut wait till you drive out them in your "gay" car to see wht they actually re gonna say
also think it in this way, buying a decent Pootrool, or cruiser (fairly new, and low kms) can set u off 25.000$ easly, more like minimum for a stock one.......with that money you can buy and have decent mods for a very capable rig for 2 Jimnys, or like 4 sierras, or like 3 evil modify sierras or one evil modify jimny, ect ect and even have some spare cash....
now try to explain that to one of those who call u "gay", to see their reaction
we all zook take care of ourself, we re a family

Here you go, buy this. It's a mans Sierra in manly Black with a very manly hardtop. If you buy it you can be a man and drive it back across the Nullarbor. Stay away from Gay Jimnys, I might wave at you when I drive past in mine.

Jeez, can people in Perth afford to be offending anyone? Never been called gay in my Jimny. Even in full drag.
I tell you what is gay though... what's with all the blokes with $100k chrome chopper/cruiser bikes around north Brisbane that then try to look "rebel" in a leather waistcoats with tassles on them. Last time I looked bikies didn't iron creases down the fronts of their 501s.
Anyway, just get what you want and F**k-em. And when the bogans have to ask for a tow off the beach because they've bogged their 4 tonne Patrol in the sand you can camp it up and make all sorts of gay jokes about how you'd love to "pull them off"

Anything will tow a 450kg unbraked trailer...
Neither a Sierra or Jimny will do it legally...

DO you want to buy a car that isnt considered gay by others, and not really like it... or buy a car you really do like, and give the to those who think its gay...
I buy a Zook because " I " like it, not because of what others think... all the Big 4WD owners hang shite on us Zook owners, that is until they see them in action, i have seen some Jaws drop, and then they are suddenly very quiet...
So are you gonna buckle to asshole peer group pressure, or get what YOU want ?
If you really want an all round Zook, that still looks manly, get a coily Sierra, it will be good on and off road... but personally, i still have a soft spot for the Vitara's... if i ever get rid of my GV, i would get a LWB mid to late 90's Vit !
And lastly, are there any good 4wheelin spots around Bunbury ?
Maybe we should do a mass arrival of Zooks in Bunbury, and piss off all the Big 4WD's !
