| Post subject: | wobbly speedo |
i picked up a 92 sierra the other day and the speedo is all over the place, it moves up and down constantly untill i get over about 80-90 then it reads 130, i did a search but didnt get much only a bit about re oiling the speedo cable. would buying a new speedo cable fix the problem? or is it somthing to do with the tranfer or tacho? cheers |

Mine is doing this as well. What oil do you use? Where do you locate the cable to oil? |

Remove the cable from the car. It runs from the transfer case through the floor at the passengers footwell and behind dash to the speedo head. Hang it from the clothes line and squirt oil into the top... Repeat every 10-15 minutes until oil is coming out the bottom. Refit to car.... If speedo is still jumpy then the inner lining of the sheath around the cable is stuffed and it's time for a new one. |

I get the same problem on my 97 Sierra, not too bad, generally wobbles within about 10-15km, so I just figure I'm doing something somewhere around the middle. Not sure if I should try to take it off and oil it, since I'd probably forget where to put it back or forget to put it back at all, or something cute like that |
