Post subject:  rear wheel bearing??axle seal??

hi all just a quick question, went out for a wheel with deadzook this morning, went sweet and drove some cool shit then get home n notice oil over drivers rear wheel

so just now i have jacked it up,popped out seal inside the axle tube as i have had new ones for years to go in(dont have the outer casing tho but are the right size 62x48x8) :? but my wheel bearing is buggered, bad.can grab it and wiggle it about 5mm side to side but it hasnt been noisy in anyway or felt different

So....if i can get a bearing in the morning is it easy enough to get bearing and little ring off the axle or should i get it to a shop?how have you done it without a press. also guess ill drop the other side and do seal also and see how it is? thanks

Have a search for a really good thread here somewhere, even had pretty pictures. Just requires a grinder and a long tube.

You won't get it apart in a press, I've tried  Grinder is not as dodgy as it sounds

No need to heat, just hit, but before you start bashing it on, be sure the bearing is on the right way, then the retainer goes on the same way, just hit.. :P

Bit of pipe and a big hammer or just heavy pipe will do it. Press at work if ya get stuck.

got some bearings today, was gonna get em off weaves but they were on the shelf here so thought why not

only thing i see is that the retainer is 48x35x16 not x20 like the ones on it at the moment. is this going to be a problem where the seal runs or should i be right??

they are network bearing kit rear 1958 on the box.But one box has NM.MT other has MT.NZ dunno if they mean anything but both kits are all the same size.

the retainer width won't make a difference, so long as the seals seats on it centrally, and not over the edge, it will be fine
