How do you remove a tie rod end? I heard that you can't hit the bolt, as they expand?? I dont have a puller at my place? Any hints? 94 swb sierra |

If you're meaning the tapered balljoint? Get a tyre lever and put some pressure on it, like you're levering it apart Keep the nut just on the thread, so you dont hit the thread.. And so the thing wont just fly off! Hit it with a hammer on the bit the taper goes through.. Maybe put a big block of wood or something beneath it to give you something to hit into.. Works better when you can get a real solid hit |

it can damage the treads and stop you from putting it back on properly. a large hammer and a few swift hits should do it as long as you have pressure on the rod downward aswell |

Do you need to grease the new ones? Not on the taper, but it might be worth pulling back the rubber seal on the ball joint and packing some more grease in it whiles its apart. |
