Post subject:  Help identify my vibration......

Ok so yesterday I noticed my zook has a vibration that gets reasonably noticeable to me at around 80km/h. I got my wheels balanced today (they were way out, one my 90grams!!) but it wasnt the source.

I dont drive it often but I did put some 2" OME springs in 2 nights ago and I reckon it started then. The tyre guy suggested it could be tread pattern and I never noticed till now because I have new, stiffer shocks. I'm only running BFG 235/75/15 A/T's, so I dont think so. I'm thinking its the extra uni angle with the increased lift and maybe the fact it got a flogging for 3hrs on a dyno yesterday. I'm guessing the uni's are running on a spot they previously didnt get to? Is this common and is it likely to fail soon, because I'm taking it on a trip tomorrow, but I'm a feather foot.

Any other ideas guys??

Cheers

PS. I have a 2" T/case lift also.

Are they a hard fix? I mean I've got no time to do them before I leave but if I got a couple could I change them pretty easy when I get to where I'm going?

you'll need a press to change your uni's. the extra vibrations can be terrible on your drivetrain, when my uni's went it blew front and rear pinion seals.

you will need to press them out, but a brass punch will get them in, just make sure when your done doing uni's to tap the shaft while it's laying on the ground to release a bit of the uneven pressure off the needle bearings, it only gets these strains because it's being all pressed together nice and firm....

Definantly don't need a press to get them out..

Also what angle are your uni joints at, if they run straight it can cause bad vibes
They have to run at atleast a small angle

Yeah, never needed a press for uni's before.
Shit, you can even change them on the side of the road with a few basic tools if your really stuck.
