the little jimnys getting a set of arb air lockers 
is there anything in the diff i should/need to replace when i get the lockers put in? and got a quote today and the mechanic suggested i dont use the air line arb supply as it breaks often? and fitting them should cost me how much? thanx guys Ben |

my airline is about 3 years old now and i've never had a drama. its just standard macroline used in pneumatics. as for the airlockers - SICK! =P |

If your worried about the air lines ,use the ARB heavy duty ones .

the airline is fine unless it melts on your exhaust or sump, so watch out and have a look when you get your jim back from the fitter. The HD airline is good in theory but i've heard of many people ripping the line clean out of the housing making track side repairs almost impossible with basic tools as it rips the fitting out of the diff, whereas the blue airline will break and you can refit the airline to the diff with a repair kit. |

I have broken a couple of fittings and a few others have, where the line is connected to the diff there are the brass fittings/tube, they snap and break the hose and then you no longer have a locker. I got some heavy duty line and quick release fittings. It's come in handy, i have broken a hose and then just cut it shorter and stuck it back in to the fitting and then you're off again, well worth it. If you don't do hard stuff i wouldn't worry about it. |

how are you breaking the line though? mine goes front the diff straight up to the side of the chassis rail and stays there all the way to the engine bay. the only way i could snag the air line would be if i was in deep mud/water and a big stick/log was pointing straight at the hose (otherwise it'd hit the driveshaft/shocks. |

and i guess i need to replace bearings in the diff? unlike most fittments i have seen just take the extra 5 minutes and run the airline properly and thoughtfully. i allways cover them in corrogated tubing too. you won't need bearings unless they are shagged. |

ooooh, i just have mine dragging on the ground behind the car, is that wrong? 
On the standard fittings , they have a brass tube that comes out of the diff, that gets snapped off if things like logs get jammed up in there, so that cuts the airline aswell. |

ARB had done the original install, compressor in engine bay, follows the brake lines down firewall then the rear follows above brakelines all the way to the rear, an they are in corrogated tubing. |

mines like that, and where the line leaves the diff housing theres also a spring around the line which stops it kinking, and would afford it some protection. |

I'm a fan of the HD airline kit. I've seen/had a few stock hoses break at the diff and it's a PITA. Run the HD kit intelligently and it should be as durable as a brake line, and they don't break that often. Steve. |

If it was allowed to bend it wouldn't have broken but the brass fitting doesn't allow any flex, just snap. I've had a tree pull the HD line out of the quick release fitting, and then the hose inserted itself through the uni joint and wound up and broke the line, i ended up just inserting what was left of the line back in to the fitting and it remains like that today

yeah the arb dealer in town are going to put them in will ask them how they will run the air line (if they will use that corrugated stuff) and if they don't i will ask them too. they say my bearing will be fine as long as they can get them off cleanly does $405 per Diff sound fair? also a heads up for anyone getting lockers or doing anything to a diff for a jimny... the front diff for a pre 03 if different to a post 03 |
