Post subject:  1.3L TCase Conversion?

Now i'm not 100% certain, but i don't think you can buy 6.5:1 gears for a 1L case?
So i'm thinking swapping in a 1.3L as my tcase finally gave in.

I've already got the 1.3L WT Diffs, 1.3L WT lower tailshafts, 1.3L NT upper tailshaft conversion on the 1L tcase

So my questions basically are, how easy is it?
And do i need to buy a tcase handbrake kit off Lowrangeoffroad that will fit the 1.3L tcase because hooking up the rear drum handbreak will be a mission.

I think i have everything i need for it, besides the 1.3L tcase.. If i've missed anything please let me know :D
These are some parts i have~

1.3L WT jackshaft
1.3L WT upper tailshafts
early 1.3L NT upper + lower tailshafts
1L tcase with early 1.3L NT output flanges, 1L input flange
2x 1L diff centres with early 1.3L flanges

I heard the 88.5+ 1.3L NT are same as WT, but the earlier model, they're the same as 1L NT (In terms of flange patterns/uni joints?)

So,
I put a 1.3L WT (any year) or 88.5+ NT tcase in, with 1.3L WT flanges to suit my 1.3L WT upper tailshafts
Then i need to grind my jackshaft apart, weld the 1.3L WT end onto my current gearbox output

But could i put a late 1.3L NT flange on the input shaft to run the smaller yoke/unijoint?
Should i redrill the input flange to suit my 1L NT jackshaft?

Advice appreciated

if you've got a transfer case that you've been able to put 1.3 flanges on then you can fit reduction gears into it. (if it has the 4wd light switch they are the same as a 1.3 internally, except the gear ratios)

otherwise if you get a case with WT flanges you will be able to use all the WT tail shafts and it'll all bolt up.

even the early 1 litre cases share the same mounts as the later 1 litres/1.3s

My Sierra is a 88.5 WT. I swapped mt T/Case a couple of months ago with another 91 WT case. My Flange pattern was the same as a NT. So I had to put the Flanges from my old case onto the new. If you have WT shafts they should bolt up to a 1.3 case.

So where does that leave the jack shaft?
It's definantly a 1L jack shaft flange on the input shaft.. But whether it is early or late model i have no idea.
It USED to have a 4wd light, then the tcase went boom like 6 years back.. Mechanic put a new one in.. It DOESNT have the light, but it does have a plug that's wire runs up under the dash somewhere?

So perhaps my light is blown, or the switch is f'd
Either way, does this mean it's a late 1L, and WILL fit the regular tcase gears by Trail Tough?

It's got one of those plastic plugs, like on an o2 sensor or w/e
Just a 3mm or so thick black wrapped wire running from the top of the tcase

so it has the light switch (even if it doesn't light up) that means you can fit the gears to the case you have and use the flanges and tailshafts that your already running.

I have the old style front output shaft yes?
Not the newer beefier version?

I'll probably upgrade that if so
