i have a 60 series toyota to repair. the chassis on both sides is completely
gone around the front of the rear spring mount and the spring mounts have punched through the chassis.
i was thinking off cutting the chassis rails out of another 60 and removing the top of the new rail
so i can just slip it over the rusted section and glue it onto the existing chassis
where there is no rust.

doesn't need to be roadworthy, just needs to last for 6 months or so.

so people who know stuff, will that work? or is there a quicker way to do the job?

Whats wrong with the second 60? Cant you swap running gear to it? That way you will have a 60 (which are becoming very rare) that will last for quite a while. So basically instead of destroying 2 60's you get to save at least one! :P

Just run a big piece of 8 inch I beam along the rail and weld the spring mounts to that.

Cheap 8 inch lift too.

That would be one of the few ways to lift it 8" AND lower the centre-of-gravity!
