Hey guys ive searched but came up blank, is there anyway that you can change the rear main without removing the gearbox? I know on a jeep people do it but this is a zook  .

It isn't that hard a job to remove the gearbox.lp

I very much doubt there is ANY engine that you can replace a rear main seal without detaching gearbox.....

On some cars you can change the clutch without removing gearbox if i remember correctly, but ya have to take box out to replace rear main. Its a piss easy job.

lot of holdens with 2 piece rope rear mains can be done with a special tool and dropping the sump

the only way to do it without removing the g/box it to take out the motor

Okay thanks guys box will come out,
You guys need to realise there are a lot of cars that are diff to zooks that have the 2 pieceand rope seals maybe it's just us dinousaur old guys that remember  .
Haven't done the zook box before are all bolts easy to get to and any parts that i need to know before i pull it out? will do it when i do the tcase gears, should make it easier?

Peice piss to do mate.... All bolts are easily accessible... Wont take long at all..they are simple as to work on.
Will be easier with transfer case out..
its only really old school cars that have rope seals.. Not alot of people know about them.. I have only come across one in the 7 years I have worked on cars.. And that was on a 1976 fairlane
