Post subject:  ute seats

Alright so im looking at getting some seats for my Ute, and as we all know they are the size of a matchbox and quite small on space. I know there are heaps of threads for other seats but i specifically after Ute details.

So i was wondering what seats people have used, if they fit easy and if a normal sized person can fit in them? and as always show as many pics as possible.

Cheers

Tim

If you have the room, yes, ute's are a lil limited on room.
I've even considered a extension on mine so I'm not so cramped.
stuffed if I know how Mr Fat fit's in his.. 8O

im 6'4'' and with the standard seat it was really tight but after i put the new seats in there is heaps more room must have moved the seats further back or something.

The Recaros are what makes it drivable for me. They are supportive, and still have a shallow back, allowing me to push them back far enough that I actually fit (6'4")

Its still no good for 3-4hr trips though

Tonka, there's some preference involved too - if you run your backrest almost vertical, you can push the base back further and free up some leg room. Also, a smaller diameter steering wheel, and a wheel with more "dish" can move the wheel away from your knees.

Although I'm only about 5'6", I have quite a long torso so seat height with recaros in my ute is getting marginal (for headroom) although legroom isn't ever going to be an issue. I had heaps of room for both height and legroom with my Sparcos as the seats have a low base and a very "thin" backrest.

Sparcos:

The passenger seat is set all the way back and the driver's seat was set in my preferred position.

The mounts were fixed:

PS the recaros are more comfortable but offer less support than the Sparcos.

I put some standard WT seats in mine with a mixture of rails. Although I can only just manage to click the back in the upright position.

I pulled my almost new autotechnica seats out of mine (guy I bought it off installed them), and installed baleno seats.

Good support, comfortable, makes it 10 times easier to fold forwards and access stuff in the rear, easier to store stuff under the seats, the seat backs arent as thick, and they recline almost horizontal.

The only negative issue is the drivers seat is a smidge higher.

What kind of baleno's?

Some are like Swift Gti's, some are boring looking..

I Have pre 98' Baleno Hatch GS seats to go into mine, Same as Swift Gti's, but has height adjust and different fabrics. 98'on sedan gtx are same also. Different fabric again.

gti mk 3 seats. a couple of holes drilled and they fit perfect.
i must say the freddo mk 2 seats would suit a ute more being smaller( thinner front to back) and still really comfy.

i run gti seats mounted 6" further back than standard in my maruti and
combined with a smaller steering wheel has given me more room and comfort. But as mentioned above 3-4 hrs 4x4ing still breaks my back
( iam 6.4" )
