hey guys need some advice. . . i am thinking of welding my front diff, but am unsure if it is the right thing to do? does it only fully lock when you engage the hubs or will it be like a rear diff when you welded ( locked all the time) your advice would be appreciated |

It will be locked all the time, but won't be engaged until you lock your hubs in. |

You will be fine to drive every day. Please explain your suspension setup. Are you looking for more flex offroad? Or better comfort on road? |

ive got 2'' body lift and thinkin of doin drop shacles but not really sure.... i want more flex and a more comfortable ride off and on road.... its pretty redicialous at the moment. head almost hits the roof its that bad.... and it bounces more than it cushions the bumps |

What pressure are you running in your tyres? |

You need longer springs. Drop shackles will not help on road, and as Joe so efficiently pointed out, they aren't much chop offroad either. I've seen them work well on bigger trucks like hiluxs', but for the money, they aren't worth it on a zook. Search RUF in the tech threads. Great place to start. |

Sound like tyre pressure. Drop them to a max of 20psi. I had a similar issue when I realised the previous owner was running over 30psi. I dropped them to 20 front and 18 rear, Made a huge differance. |

even on the bitumen road drop them that low.... because its pretty uncomfortable driving everyday to work? |

I run my tyres at 20 on road, usually 10 off road. If you have shitty old springs and shocks then you will have a rough ride. Any new spring and shock combo will be an improvement. As for the flop shackles, why? They will make the flex uncontrollable and unpredictable, and make no improvements to your onroad manners whatsoever... |

Wait, so you don't want drop/ scissor/ flop shackles, you want extended shackles? |

A zook weighs F$ck all. Tyres will last forever. |

Stock standard tyre pressures are only 20psi! Very unlike a lux/pootrol/car Centipedes will be stiff. so you could probably even run 15 psi onroad |

i run 19psi in my 31" ETs on road (winter) and 21 in summer (more grip in winter on cold wet roads). offroad i'm only game to go down to 7 or 8psi without beadlocks, but i'd say i could get to 5 without dramas. as for welding the front diff - understand that you WILL lose steering if you do this and are in 4wd with both hubs locked. (you'll understeer into, well, everything). |

I might try dropping my type pressure a bit... I usually run my claws at 28! |

i run my 33's at 26-28. Any lower and my rear tyres grab the road something shocking. You can also feel the roll resistance when they are lower. |
