so here the story. my old man has just bought a new boat. its pretty nice its a 18.4ft four winns h190. anyways i have been looking for a while at gettin a sierra as a build project but i have yet to convince dad that its worth gettin one. since he bought the boat a few weeks ago he decided that he was going to buy a old 4x4 to tow the boat from our shack to the boat ramp which is only a few kms away. i head this and thought beauty this is my way in yess!! however im not sure if a small sierra could tow a 2.1tone boat comfortably enough to launch and pull the boat outta the water? thoughts? :?:

You cannot legally tow 2.1 tonnes on a public road in a Sierra, so even if it is "only a few km", if its a public road, then you'll need a bigger 4x4.

If its not on public roads, however... I regularly tow 2 tonne historic touring cars uphill in my Sierra...

A Sierra will "tow" a big boat sure - if "towing" implies getting up to speed but does not imply safe control or braking abilities at road speeds...

I believe that the towing capacity BRAKED for a Sierra is 750kg. Any more than that on the road and not only are you breaking the law but putting yourself and others in danger.

i spent a lot of money on trailer brakes and it stops quicker then a unladen sierra.
i dont want to spread $50k around a tree.

i think he'd be better with an old kia... has good towing capacity and is comfy for long haul drives, still has low range and can be had cheap.
