Hi guys i want to get my steering back to centre ive got 2inch body, 2 inch shackles, ruf, 2 inch suspension and i have lost a little steering to the left so i have to do 3 point turns left hand down, is this an easy fix or do i have to fab something up, the pitman arm sits off sentre pretty bad

A wheel alignment will fix it mate.

I always do one after any suspension mods

that fixes the steering wheel being off centre, but doesn't help with the slight loss of turning circle he lost on left turns.

did or do the extended shackles affect your steering pull?
I heard that they can alter the camber, i'm a bit reluctant to put mine one because of this.

Point your wheels straight. Pull the pitman arm off. Turn the steering wheel full lock left then full lock right. Count the turns. Halve that to find centre. Once the steering box is centred put the pitman arm back on.

It effects your caster, not your camber. Caster is what makes zuks wander left and right on the freeway depending which way the road cambers. Get some caster wedges. They are honestly the cheapest thing I've found to make sierras behave better on road. It's nice when the cars steering actually centres properly after turning. I even use them on sierras with stock shackle lengths. The stock caster on sierras sucks.

Where do you get from hybrid??

Abd what degrees would you recommend for a 2inch spring lift??
Also can you use if I have moved the diff forward

I got some for a hilux and cut them down. I couldn't track sierra ones down at the time. Since I've seen Superior Engineering do them for sierras. Google them, they've got an online store. You may also have to get longer u bolts depending on your spring pack and what bolts you're already running. I think I just got the highest degree wedges they had at the time. More caster gives more dynamic camber and also better tracking with regard to the steering centering. The only downside on a normal vehicle would be additional tyre wear and possibly slightly heavier steering. On a suzi those things are negligible as they are light as hell. Having the diff moved forward makes no difference that I can think of. My diff is forward with RUF if that helps.

once you lift it nothing short of a longer tie bar will recenter it all

Longer drag link? Wouldnt a longer tie bar fuck everything hehe?

You're right though now I think about it, the drag link length is the issue. The distance from the pitman to the steering arm has been increased so theres no way short of spacing the steering box out to get it fully recentered with the stock drag link length. Reclocking the pitman on mine did go a long way to fixing it though. I don't notice the difference in lock left to right but it has to be there.

i'd be pretty interested to know how many guys have used castor wedges when they have installed there 2 inch lift..as I havent heard much about them at all really

Castor wedges aren't really needed for 2" spring lift. Wedges work well when fitting extended shackles tho.

As for your steering issue, You would benifit from a drop pitman arm. Because you have lifted the vehicle, the seperation between the pitman arm and the point where the drag link joins the diff has increased, shortening the length of the drag length on the horizontal plane. By fitting a drop pitman arm you will be bringing the drag link back down closer to where it was before the lift. It may not completely fix the issue but it will certainly help.

I really haven't heard of many people running them which I find suprising as I think they are fantastic. If you do a search on outer limits I think that's where I first got the idea. That was 3 or so years ago now though.

Yeah thats what I got mine for. But haven't needed it yet cos my ute is a lowrider :roll:

And with full RUF, it will make the drag link and tie rod hit, as the drop pitman arm is 15mm longer :(

yeah the draglink and the tie rod and makin a little contact under there

Yeah I had to re-clock my steering box to get around that. Found out the hard way when the pitman bent the tie rod down... With it clocked they clear and both rods are practically parallel.
