houston we have a problem ages ago my fill plug for my grandys gearbox i found was chewed out so i wielded bolt into it so i could get it out, now it was done up to tight after my last oil change, and while servicing the catrying to get it out i sheared the bolt so there is only about a 10mm bolt shaft sticking out, iv tried wielding another bolt on but that sheared off aswell. iv also tried clamping some vicegrips on it but no luck. iv had a search and found a bit on using easy out but there isnt enough space to get a drill in next to the box. has anyone got a suggestion on the best way to get it out? |

Hammer & cold chisel, failing that, box out. I have slowly filled through the g/stick hole, as long as you know the amount of oil held... look forward to trickling oil in for a while tho... |

Try a little bit of rag between your bolt and your vice grips. Sometimes it can help when the rag grips onto the burs you have created giving it more grip. Also, tighten your vice grips up and pull them together with a clamp so you get a thighter grip other than just hand thight. Failing that, you may have to drop your front & rear drive shafts, take out your transfer case support and lower the box down to give you enough room to get a drill in so you can use the easyout. I hope someone else can think of an easier way... Good luck with it. |

You could use a right angle on your drill maybe. Try welding a large nut onto the brokenbolt and give it a real good hit of weld |

mate use the vice grips and a oxy set to heat up the surrounding alloy while putting wieght onto the vice grips once it starts to move go like shit to get it out before the heat gets into the threads and they strip out... dont worry about the oil cause your changing it anyways |
