ok, so you guys have convinced me not to put a diesel in my zook. i need a solution to the powerlessness of my 1lt. it doesn't do hill starts in high range, it hates carrying more than 3 people, and uses its fair share of fuel.....

The 1.6 vitara engine sounds good but i don't have the money yet, and i wondered if fuel economy is going to increase a great deal or i should just get one of those 6oocc turbo cappuccino engines. Hmmmmmmm too many options

The 660 is cool with the right gearing but if you want it engineered then you may find you'll have an issue with emissions.

I'll disagree and say the 660 is shithouse, my 1 litre used to run rings round one in a similar car and it was crap on the highway, but it was auto

still sounds to me you need to go through it all and find whats wrong with it cause a 1 litre shouldnt be that bad

Gearing is everything with the 660. Get it wrong and it won't be good but get it right and it's great. We have another 1 litre going to 660 at the moment in the club.

this was standard 4.11 diff gears and 1 litre transfer, autos had this from factory (had front diff in it still)

what are you using? cause this thing accerlerated like a dog and screamed at 100kmh, like it didnt have a convertor lock or something

I know the manuals had 5.12 gears in them and accelerated heaps better but I still dont see them being better than a 1.6

i had transfer case problems so i put a 1.3lt transfer in it, but in 2WD why would the ratio be anything other that 1:1? i am not 100% sure but it look completely stock other that that. its a 4speed manual

is there somewhere on the diff that will tell me the gearing?

sierras arent 1:1 in highrange

by putting a 1.3 case in its like driving round with 31's when you only have stock tires, would explain a bit
