Im a cabinet maker buy trade, so that means i know only what ive taught myself about car. But nevertheless.

I have a mate up the central coast, well down for those in Brisbane, who has a 2.2lt Diesel Holden Isuzu Rodeo 4wd. Its a rust bucket body wise, but under the removable rust covering called a hood lyes my hopes and dreams.

I tried to look for the engine specs but only found what model car they came in.... KBD43. And the power/tourque is 65kW/131Nm.

I was wondering how much, obviously a ball park figure, if i was to take both my SJ40 1lt 4cyl 84 zook and the rodeo to a mechanic and say, 'make my zook a diesel'?

if you have no idea, keep my spirits high by saying $500

$2500 for the conversion by a mechanic, then another $2000 to rebuild the diesel motor two weeks after you've driven it around and it develops horrible noises.

Hi Sosilboy,

:D No tact these fellows, but I think you get their point :D . I've wondered the same about my '83 zook. I think VW or Peugeot make small diesels that would be better candidates...I think they are in the 1.9 to 2L range.

The thing is, I quite like the simplicity of my little 1L. I've see a pciture of a zook with a diesel in it (Spainish I think) and it was a nightmare of plumbing wrapped around the engine.

I don't think the concept is a bad one though....after-all, Diahatsu's weren't much bigger and they had a diesel.
