IN2DEP. I'd suggest dealing with one issue at a time. Find the cause of your current drain before you look at alternator. You need to spend some time investigating.

Just by-the-by it could be your brand new alternator that is the cause, if the battery drain problem has started since it was installed. If one of the diodes in the alternator blows then it'll draw current through the alternator coils even when the car is turned off and parked.

The current draw of an alternator with a blown diode is generally enough that you can generate a spark by having the positive connected and then just touching the negative lead to the battery terminal with everything else switched off. Checking with a multimeter is still the best way though.

I always thought that from the start, well im in brisbane for the week so ill will put this thread on hold for now
