I’ve done two f6a swaps but into an SJ70 and SJ40. Lj50 is going to make things much more complex. The cappuccino gearbox has a huge shift extension on the back that’s not easily managed and will be a big problem for an LJ.
VSS will be harder with an LJ cluster.
A custom gearbox mount will be required as the LJ doesn’t have a mount down the back.
I haven’t seen a 50 f6a swapped but I’ve seen 80’s where there is more room for the motor.
It’s going to be a challenge to keep the 50 bonnet.

Thanks Steve, looks like the F6A that l had lined up has fallin through. Ok back to your comments. . The huge shift thing - can that be removed and put a top loader like you can on a vitara box? Custom mounts is my middle name as l had to with the LJ81 build l did so no fab issues there Bonnet wise l will be using an80 bonnet which l know will be tight just like the G16 was.
I am also looking at a K10C which l believe would work but need to make a bell housing adapter also doable. Thoughts?

I think the k10c is enormously tall as it was designed for the wagon R which had a very tall cowl. Inlet manifold is plastic and sits up super high
No we found no solution for the shifter. We shortened it but it didn’t work properly and a kei sierra gearbox was sourced.

More spit balling daewoo matiz? Maybe? Also l’ve just been looking at the cap manual. I can get my head around the gearbox linkage. Do you have any photos of one at all

Little update, I’ve managed to Aquire what appears to be a late model F6A (with EFI). The gearbox that came with it is and AWD from an Alto which won’t be used. 1. Now can l find what vehicle it was actually from. 2. What gearbox could l fit? 3. Is there anywhere in Aus to get engine rebuild kits and parts?

All F6a’s are EFI as far as I know. Odds are it’s from an Alto? You’ll need a gearbox from a 660cc Sierra. (The last 660cc sierras were K6a, unsure if the bellhousing bolt pattern is the same. The bolt pattern does not match the F8A/F10A.
Parts are not readily available locally.

Thanks Steve, a 660 sierra! Guessing that’s an import operation then?

Correct. There are a few around. Many are F5a but I think the bellhousing pattern is shared.

You’ll want a large suitcase.
A large duffel bag would be better.

I think the output shaft spline is the same as 1.0 litre from memory. Jackshaft is very close to 1.0 litre
