| Post subject: | GV Jb627 noisy gearbox judder on clutch engagement |
Hi everyone, long time lurker first time poster. I have had my 2005 jb627 at the mechanic today. Diagnosis is gearbox rebuild required, possibly transfer work too + the 2 front wheel bearing hubs (this is can do myself), and 2 buckled wheels both drivers side (had no idea). Also noting the subframe is slowly rusting away, treat periodically with penetrol and she's got 210k KMs. Do I just throw in the towel here? Sounds like the repairs will be getting close to exceed the value of vehicle. What would a gearbox rebuild be worth? Mechanic couldnt estimate as it's outsourced. The clutch was done in 2023 but continued to have judder afterwards, assumed related to failing bearings in gearbox maybe? Seen an h27a box and transfer on eBay wreckers for $1500 odd, also noticed xl7 box's are much cheaper but not sure if they're the same or not. As much as I've loved my Zook it feels like it's on last legs. |
