Hi, new to the zook scene,
I have a 1991 vitara auto 3spd hardtop 3dr 1.6l g16a carby with wax choke, 4x4.
Just finished doing a full rebuild on the engine and stock mikuni carburettor, but am having trouble tuning the mikuni as it has way too many variables to adjust. The vacuum actuators are getting old and worn out and impossible to find replacements for.
My question is will a 3k or 4k corolla carb work on the 1.6l or will it be too lean, i have seen that they work mint on the 1.3l engines but can not find any info at all on the 1.6l engine.
I have an ebay corolla carb on my G16a with a sierra manifold in a sierra. It took a lot of work to fit properly and a fair bit of tuning. I have a wideband oxygen sensor fitted so that makes the tuning easy.
I had to jet mine right down, from memory it ended up 78 main and 112 secondary. I think the jets that came with it were 108/160 but they didn't have sizes stamped on them. Out of the box it was 10:1 or richer.
I know the G16a carb is a bit of a dead end for parts but I'd suggest persisting with it and fitting a wideband oxygen sensor to help with the tuning.

Cheers, sorry for late as f**k reply.
converted from 3spd auto to 5spd manual (way more responsive) l. rebuilt the mikuni with new actuators got it running nice but struggling past 80kph on slightest incline on 30" muddies. any better power with the 3k? I have a 3k, low pressure regulator and electric fuel pump on the shelf but no adapter plate or g13 intake, hesitant while the mikuni works but after a bit more power to spin the 30's. planning on getting a wide-band.
